€3 500 / 40m2 - 3 weeks over OLYMPICS or PARALYMPICS authentic 1890s Paris flat (PARIS)

1 bedroom apartment, sleeps 6: 1 large double bed, 1 small double bed, 1 fold-out small double bed.

Renting for 3 weeks around the 2024 PARIS OLYMPICS (July 24 - August 14: from 2 days before and finishing on 3 days after the Olympics).

Renting separately for 3 weeks around the PARALYMPICS (August 24 - September 11: from 1 week before the Paralympics and finishing 3 days after).

Each 3-week period is 3500€ which works out to 166€ a night.

This is posted separately on AirBNB (search "1890s Parisian Flat - Olympics") but here, it's minus their crazy fee. You will still get a legal contract.

Authentic Parisian apartment dating from 1890. Renovated traditional features include a fireplace in each room, high ornamental ceilings, the original 1890s floor, large windows, even the “réfrigérette”, the small cupboard ventilated from outdoors which is the ancestor of the modern refrigerator!

Peaceful and quiet courtyard-side position inside the apartment building, away from the noise of Paris’ city streets.

Take care, there is no lift so you must walk up the large wooden winding staircase to the 4th floor!

Public transport times to the Games from the apartment:

Stade de France - 10 mins (take RER D for 1 stop then a short walk)

Accor Arena aka Bercy - 25 mins (take RER D 2 stops then a short walk)

Arena Porte de la Chapelle aka Adidas Arena - 30 mins' walk

Roland Garros & Parc de Princes - 45 mins (take metro 2 then bus PC)

South Paris Arena aka Paris Expo Porte de Versailles - 40 mins (metro 2 then metro 12)

Opening Ceremony - 30 mins (take bus 38) or 45 mins' walk

These are today’s times and so are indicative! During the Games it will be busy but there will also be additional services. In general, add 10 mins to your travel time to walk across the road to the station and buy your ticket plus 10 mins to exit the station at the other end and get your bearings. If the City of Paris does not issue its own travel app for the Olympics, I recommend the excellent (and free) app Citymapper. It's what we locals use!

Getting here is easy:

Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Orly airport transport stops just across the road from the flat. Take the train to Paris and get out at Paris Nord. If you arrive in Paris by train, just take the metro to La Chapelle, Louis Blanc or Gare du Nord stations.

Walk or metro anywhere in Paris easily:

- Walk to Canal Saint Martin in only 5 minutes. Walk to the Seine in 50 minutes, a lovely walk down the canal.
- Metro line 2 is across the street, metro lines 7 and 7b are 3 minutes walk away. Metro lines 4 and 5 are at the Gare du Nord, only 7 minutes walk away.

Trendy but real neighbourhood:

- A small high street with traditional Parisian shops: cheese shops, quality French bakeries, a charcutier, pharmacy, doctor, dry cleaning, hipster boutiques and cafés.
- The flat is in a tiny neighbourhood called “petite inde” (Little India) and is right on the border between a bustling area called La Chapelle (2 minutes walk away) and the serene Canal Saint Martin (5 minutes walk away). La Chapelle is an area where working people, including many immigrants, live. It has a reputation for being less chic than many more expensive parts of Paris but it is filled with perfectly friendly Parisians and is safe for travellers, single female travellers included! Canal Saint Martin is trendy and fun, with hundreds of arty cafés and restaurants for every budget from alternative to high end. In summer, parisians of all ages picnic along the banks of the canal.

Perfect hub for visiting Europe:

- Eurostar (2.15-hour high speed train to London) stops 7 minutes walk away, at the Gare du Nord.
- Thalys (high speed train to Brussels and Amsterdam) stops 15 minutes walk away, at the Gare de l’Est.
- RER network of trains run from Gare du Nord to villages and towns in the Paris region (Giverny, Versailles and more).

Electricity, water, taxes, insurance and wifi included. The flat runs on renewable energy.

Need to know:

4th floor walk up. No lift. :/
There is a washing machine but no dryer. In summer, air drying is fast. :)
No AC but the apartment stays cool in summer even when it's hot outdoors. :)
